Evan Peters Wants To Do A Rom-Com And Play A “Normal Person”

In a recent series of interviews, Evan Peters expressed his desire to explore something lighter in his acting career—particularly, a romantic comedy and the chance to play an ordinary character. This comes on the heels of his intense role as Jeffrey Dahmer in Netflix’s “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.”

Evan Peters’ Desire for a Rom-Com

Ryan Murphy, the creator behind many of Evan’s notable roles, revealed that Evan initially sought a lighter project before taking on the role of Jeffrey Dahmer. In his words, “Evan said he wanted to play someone normal and maybe do a rom-com.” Despite auditioning around 100 other actors for the role, Murphy concluded that Evan’s talent made him the perfect fit for Dahmer.

During an interview, Evan mentioned that reading extensively about Dahmer helped him understand the complexities of the character. He shared, “It was so challenging and difficult that I felt I had to say yes to it, even though I was terrified.”

The Heavy Toll of Dark Roles

Evan’s career has frequently involved deeply dark and intense characters, from Tate Langdon in “American Horror Story: Murder House” to his recent portrayal of Jeffrey Dahmer. He admitted that it took him “two years to recover” from his role in “AHS: Cult,” showcasing the emotional toll of such demanding performances.

Evan’s wish for lighter roles isn’t new. In a 2018 interview with W Magazine, Evan expressed his longing to do comedy, stating, “I’m dying to do a comedy. It’s where my heart really lies. I love physical comedy.”

His aspirations also align with a previous conversation he had with GQ, where he spoke about the need to take a break from the dark themes in “AHS” for the sake of his mental health. “I’m going to take a break, regroup, decompress, get back in touch with what I feel like I want to do,” he said.

He added, “I’m goofy, I’m silly, I like to have fun. I don’t like to yell and scream. I actually hate it. It’s disgusting and really awful, and it’s been a challenge for me. Horror Story sort of demanded that of me. It’s been all a massive stretch for me and really difficult to do. It’s hurting my soul and Evan as a person.”

A Call for Change

Murphy confirmed that the two had significant discussions about stepping into the world of comedy. However, so far, the transition to lighter roles has yet to take place for Evan. The actor’s fans are now clamoring for someone to cast him in a romantic comedy to finally give him that much-desired break.

As we look forward to possibly seeing Evan Peters in a comedy or rom-com, his openness about the challenges of his career provides a refreshing insight into the complexities of acting and the emotional toll it can take.

Looking Forward

It’s clear that Evan’s dedication to his craft is profound, but it’s heartening to know that he’s also keen on diversifying his portfolio to include roles that speak to his lighter, fun-loving side. Fans of Evan Peters are left anticipating what could be an exciting new chapter in his career, one filled with laughter and lighter moments.
