Johnny Depp will join Italian singer Andrea Bocelli as a special guest at Bocelli’s upcoming ‘Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration’ concerts on July 15, 17 and 19.
Andrea Bocelli is praising Johnny Depp ahead of their upcoming joint concert appearance.
Bocelli, 65, whose concert film Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration will release in theaters this fall, shared on Instagram July 3 that Depp, 61, will join him at the upcoming concert series as a special guest.
“A disarmingly charming actor who has brought countless iconic characters to life on the big screen, this eclectic artist’s musical talents are equally intense: a bona fide rockstar loved and applauded everywhere,” the singer wrote on Instagram about Depp.
“I fondly recall playing and singing with Johnny Depp when he visited my home in Tuscany,” Bocelli added. “We’re happy to announce that this unexpected pairing will perform once more — and this time in public, as his fans will be thrilled to hear.”
“We want to thank Johnny for accepting our invitation: it will be a joy to welcome him to the Teatro del Silenzio stage.”
Bocelli previously announced he was celebrating 30 years in the music industry with a series of three concerts in his hometown of Lajatico, Italy, on July 15, 17 and 19.
At the time, Bocelli shared that stars like Ed Sheeran, Shania Twain, Jon Batiste, Russell Crowe, Sofia Vergara, David Foster, Christian Nodal, Sofia Carson, Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro, Zucchero, Giorgia, as well as his children Matteo and Virginia would join him for the event, as well as classical musicians Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Lang Lang, Aida Garifullina, Bryn Terfel and Nadine Sierra.
Sam Wrench, the filmmaker who directed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, will direct the concert film made from Bocelli’s three-night celebration that will premiere as Bocelli also kicks off a fall North American tour that starts in Monterrey, Mexico, on Sept. 30 and runs through Dec. 21 in Los Angeles.
“As a child, I learned to dream about my future in the enchanted silence of these hills,” Bocelli said in a press release about the concert series back in April. “Then life made that dream happen.”
“Today, 30 years later, I can only imagine celebrating my career and my life, its strength, and its wondrous beauty here at Teatro del Silenzio, surrounded by such wonderful artists and friends,” he added. “I want to thank everyone who helped my childhood dreams come true with an unforgettable concert.”
Depp is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist outside of his acting career. He released an album with the late Jeff Beck, titled 18, in July 2022, several months before Beck died in January 2023. He most recently performed live at a special event in London to honor what would have been Beck’s 80th birthday.
