Acapella Version of ‘You Raise Me Up’ Will Leave You with Chills

It’s no surprise that music resonates with most of us as if it were its own language.

For as long as humans have had ears to listen, music has played a crucial role in our communities, pulling at our heartstrings, igniting inspiration, and leaving a mark. While music styles evolve over time, certain songs remain timeless, continuing to captivate listeners long after their initial release.

One of the unique aspects of music, especially songs, is that each artist can offer their own interpretation. If you’re looking for proof, look no further than the song ‘You Raise Me Up.’ Originally released in 2001, this classic has been famously covered by artists such as Josh Groban in 2003 and Westlife in 2005.

You’ve likely heard ‘You Raise Me Up’—and if not, it’s a must-listen. The fact that over 100 artists have covered this song underscores its enduring appeal.

But of all the renditions out there, one of the most hauntingly beautiful versions might be from Brigham Young University’s Vocal Point.

BYU Vocal Point is a nine-member acapella group established in 1991 by two BYU students, Dave Boyce and Bob Ahlander. The group quickly gained popularity on campus and even placed fifth in the third season of NBC’s The Sing-Off.

In 2018, they secured a record deal with Universal Music Group’s classical label, Decca Gold. Jason Bromley, a member of the group, commented, “We’re ordinary college students doing extraordinary things.”

Their cover of ‘You Raise Me Up’ is a wonderful showcase of their immense talent and their ability to create unforgettable musical experiences.

The video features the group harmonizing beautifully while traversing a breathtaking mountainous landscape. Their voices blend seamlessly, creating a truly remarkable performance.
