The singer and actress welcomed her first baby with fiancé Robert Pattinson in March
Suki Waterhouse is reflecting on a life-changing moment during her pregnancy.
In a conversation with British Vogue for their August cover story, the 32-year-old singer and actress shared that one of her key preparations for her baby was discovering the baby’s gender.
“I wish I hadn’t wanted to find out,” Waterhouse confessed. “But I needed to prepare myself mentally.”
The new mother said that the moment she learned she was having a girl, she immediately called her mom and burst into tears.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, am I going to have to go through what [you] went through with me?’” Waterhouse mentioned asking her mom, reflecting on her teenage years. “I was just such a little handful. [My mum] usually loves telling my terrible teenager stories, but she was like, ‘No, no you were great. You were amazing, you were fine.’”
Since having her daughter, Waterhouse has developed a newfound appreciation for her own mother, often telling her, “You are incredible and I don’t know how you had four kids under eight.”
Waterhouse and her fiancé Robert Pattinson, 38, welcomed their first baby in March. Not long after her daughter’s birth, Waterhouse opened up about the emotions she was experiencing in the “fourth trimester.”
In April, Waterhouse shared reflective mirror selfies on her Instagram, proudly displaying her postpartum body while wearing comfy Frida Mom Postpartum Underwear and a bralette.
In her captions, she honored her postpartum journey, acknowledging that the transition to new motherhood had its ups and downs.
“The fourth trimester has been… humbling! The postpartum period has been filled with exhilarating joy, so much laughter, tears, so many hormones!” Waterhouse expressed.
“I’m proud of everything my body has achieved and proud of the kindness and grace I’ve given myself during this recovery period. 💕.”
