A tragic incident has shaken the city of Bolivar in West Tennessee. A woman has lost her life after being attacked and mauled by two dogs early Monday morning. Authorities have reported that one of the dogs was shot and injured by a police officer during the incident.
The Bolivar Police Department stated that officers were alerted to the distressing scene at around 1:30 a.m. when they received a report of a woman bleeding in the street. The woman was found in critical condition with severe injuries from what appeared to be a dog attack. Two dogs were discovered nearby.
In an effort to provide urgent medical treatment to the injured woman, one of the officers shot one of the dogs, causing it to flee along with the other dog.
Victim was taken to hospital where she died
Unfortunately, despite being swiftly taken to a hospital, the woman, identified as Theresa Rhodes, succumbed to her injuries. Her age and the circumstances leading to the attack remain unclear at this time.
Sara Rice, a spokesperson for the Bolivar Fire Department, mentioned that both dogs were captured without any further incidents and have since been euthanized. Authorities are still investigating to determine the ownership of the dogs, though it has been confirmed that Rhodes was not their owner.

On their Facebook page, the Bolivar Police Department provided a description of the dogs involved. One of the dogs had grey and blue coloring with features resembling a pit bull. A photo of the other dog showed a brown canine with a boxy face and floppy ears. As of Wednesday, the investigation into this heartbreaking case continues.
