Scientists have noted that statistically, every individual has roughly six doppelgangers somewhere in the world. People who bear a striking resemblance to each other, even though they are not related.
Meeting one of these lookalikes is rare, but for two athletes, this improbable event actually happened. Brady Feigl, a pitcher for the Long Island Ducks, looks nearly identical to another pitcher: Brady Feigl, who plays for the Las Vegas Aviators.
Both Bradys are 6’4″, have fiery red hair and beards, and wear thick glasses. It’s easy to see why people might get them mixed up.
The confusion started when one Brady received a call about a surgery he supposedly had scheduled. Oddly enough, he had already undergone this surgery six months prior. It turned out the other Brady was the one scheduled for that surgery.
People had noticed their uncanny resemblance for years, prompting both Bradys to question if they were somehow related. Curious and puzzled, they decided to take a DNA test.
Neither had met anyone else with their last name outside of their families. It seemed plausible they might be long-lost siblings or at least distant cousins.
The DNA results were surprising – the two Bradys were not related at all. This unexpected revelation left many people astonished, given their strikingly similar appearance. However, the DNA test revealed that both shared an identical level of Germanic ancestry, with each being 53% Germanic in origin.
While they are not long-lost siblings, the mystery of their likeness continues to intrigue. They share the same name, height, hair color, beard, and even wear similar glasses, yet their lives and origins are distinct.
This remarkable coincidence has not just confused fans but has also connected the two Bradys in a unique way. They now share a bond that goes beyond blood and genetics.
Despite not being related, both Bradys feel like brothers. They are grateful for having met each other and enjoy the camaraderie they share. ‘We’re still brothers in a way,’ they reflect.
Their similarities have caused a fair amount of confusion among baseball enthusiasts. On social media, one fan wished Brady a happy birthday but tagged the wrong Brady, to which the other replied, ‘Wrong Brady Feigl. Might be looking for @bfeigl39.’
Even though DNA revealed no familial connection, the Bradys remain connected forever by this unique experience. Their story is a heartwarming reminder of the surprises life can bring, and the special connections we can forge with those we meet along the way.
