His friends laughed when they saw his tiny house, but once they went inside, they were amazed. For the price of a phone, this young genius built his own home!
The remarkable young man, Luke Thiull, is only 13 years old, but he isn’t your average teen. While most kids his age think about school crushes or gym class, Luke was busy creating something extraordinary.
Yes, you read that right. Luke from Iowa constructed his dream house in his very own backyard for the cost of an iPhone. Take a peek inside!
While many teens are glued to their computer and smartphone screens, Luke chose a different path. He decided to put in hard work the old-fashioned way and build something with his own hands.
He explains everything on his YouTube channel, sharing how he had an unshakeable desire to build his own house.
After much thought, planning, and research, Luke finalized his idea and brought it to life.
It took him about a year to gather the necessary funds and materials. Luke mowed lawns, organized fundraisers, and took on various jobs to raise the money, showing the tenacity of a true entrepreneur!
He got some help with the electrical work from a gentleman whose garage he helped clean. Truly, a jack of all trades!
Interestingly, 75% of the house is built from recycled materials and leftovers from his grandma’s house. However, the front door was a special gift from his uncle.
Luke’s tiny house measures about 89 square feet, stretching 10 feet in length and about 5.5 feet wide. The house has electricity, but no plumbing yet, so there’s no shower or sink for now!
Luke gets a lot of help from his parents, but dad Greg ensured that it was Luke that would pay for most things himself.
Greg said: “It was a chance for a kid to do something more than play video games or sports. It teaches life lessons.”
The house is a dream for every teenager, a sanctuary to have alone time and space. It has microwave, TV, and a loft with a bed. Oh, yes! There’s even BBQ in the back!
Luke does his homework in his own house, and then sometime in the night, they allow him to sleep there too!
This kind of an aspiration as a kid will take him far off the coast later in life! His goal is also to inspire others too, no matter the age.
He said: “I want to show kids it’s possible to build at this age.”
