However, Federline’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan denied that the pop star had visited her teenage boys in Hawaii, calling other reports “inaccurate”
Britney Spears’ relationship with her sons might be on the path to improvement.
According to a statement, Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, mentioned that while Britney and her sons Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, spoke on the phone around Mother’s Day, she has not yet seen them in person since their move to Hawaii.
Kaplan stated, “Obviously a reconciliation or reunification is somewhat complex and can be a process that takes some time. And while Kevin supports the boys having a relationship with their mother and is glad that the boys did finally have a phone conversation with her around Mother’s Day, the reports that she flew to Hawaii and met with them are inaccurate. That’s just not true.”
He added, “The phone call was a good sign and a step in the right direction, but it’s a process that takes more than just a phone call to accomplish.”
It’s heartening to think of the possibilities for their relationship moving forward.
In a previous interview with The Daily Mail in September 2022, Jayden discussed the mixed feelings he and his brother have about their relationship with their mom. Jayden noted that it remains complicated, but he has hope for the future, saying, “I 100 percent think this can be fixed. It’s just going to take a lot of time and effort. I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better, I really want to see her again.”
Speaking directly to his mom, Jayden said, “I love you a lot, I hope for the best for you. Maybe one day, we can sit down like this and talk again.”
In 2023, Britney’s sons moved to Hawaii with their dad, his wife Victoria Prince, and their two children — Peyton, 10, and Jordan, 12. At the time, Federline mentioned that there were additional professional opportunities for him and a job offer for Prince from a Hawaiian university.
In May 2023, Kaplan shared that Britney had “consented” to her kids moving to Hawaii with their father.
Kaplan added, “It’s an opportunity for Kevin and his wife, and the boys are ready to get away from the L.A. microscope.”
According to a source, Federline initially reached out to his ex-wife for permission to move. The source stated, “Britney has always faithfully supported her children and wants them to be happy.”
