Elton John Confirms He’ll Never Tour Again, Wants to ‘Be Present’ for ‘Key Decade’ in Sons’ Lives

The famed singer shares sons Zachary Jackson, 13, and Elijah Joseph, 11, with husband David Furnish

Elton John is focusing on his family.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, published on June 27, the legendary artist, now 77, expressed that he would not be touring anymore because he wants to “be present” for a crucial decade of his sons’ lives.

John, who shares sons Zachary Jackson, 13, and Elijah Joseph, 11, with his husband David Furnish, 61, concluded his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Stockholm, Sweden in July 2023. During his final show, he told the audience it had been “52 years of pure joy.”

However, when asked if he would ever go on tour again, John simply stated, “No.”

During the interview, Furnish added, “We’ve got our sons, you know, they’re getting into their teenage years now. We don’t want to miss anything. We want to be present for that. It’s sort of a key decade, I think, in a child’s life. He’s been doing it for 60 years. So it’s nice to have that time to spend at home with family.”

The “Tiny Dancer” singer’s final world tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road, began on September 10, 2018, in North America, and concluded on July 8, 2023, in Sweden.

Furnish shared a touching video on Instagram of himself and their sons waving from the stage side during John’s final show at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. The caption read, “And off he goes…. 🚀 One final trip down the Yellow Brick Road 💫 330 shows under his belt 💪🏼🎹 Finally off the road and into the sunset 🌈☀️. So excited for the next chapter together 👨‍👨‍👦‍👦 We love you Daddy ❤️.”

Earlier this year in January, the couple celebrated the 11th birthday of their youngest son, Elijah.

To mark the occasion, they shared a photo of a beautifully decorated white birthday cake with stars, candles, sprinkles, and a red “Happy Birthday Elijah” message on Instagram. The heartfelt caption read, “Happy Birthday to our beautiful son Elijah. Can’t believe you’re 11! You fill our hearts with so much love and laughter. We love you. Papa and Daddy xo.”
