Emma Stone, in a press release for her new movie ‘Kinds of Kindness,’ called Joe Alwyn “one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”
Joe Alwyn is expressing his appreciation for his friend and co-star, Emma Stone.
Alwyn, 33, chatted with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his new movie with Stone, ‘Kinds of Kindness’ on Thursday, June 20. He responded to Stone’s comments about him, shared in a press release the previous month.
“Well, I would say [that] back, yeah,” Alwyn replied after being informed that Stone described him as “one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”
“I’m so lucky to be close to her; she’s just the best. She’s obviously wildly talented, and she’s just the best,” he added.
Alwyn and Stone first collaborated in 2018’s ‘The Favourite,’ another project directed by ‘Kinds of Kindness’ filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos. Besides his acting career, Alwyn is known for his six-year relationship with Taylor Swift, who has been friends with Stone since their teenage years.
“I love Joe,” Stone noted about Alwyn in a press release for ‘Kinds of Kindness.’ “We had to do some pretty dark stuff in this one, so it was extremely comforting to be with him because he’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”
‘Kinds of Kindness’ brings together a talented cast, including Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons, Margaret Qualley, Mamoudou Athie, and Hong Chau. The movie tells three distinct stories set in New Orleans over a runtime of two hours and 45 minutes. In the film’s final act, Stone and Alwyn play a separated couple who share a daughter, portrayed by Merah Benoit. Alwyn also appears in other segments of the film as a collectibles appraiser and a car passenger during a traffic stop.
“It’s like a little theater troupe. Everybody changes roles in each story, and when you’re working with people you trust and love, it makes the process much easier,” Alwyn shared with ET about the making of the film. “It’s a lot of fun.”
Alwyn’s appearance at the film’s red carpet premiere on June 20 came after he discussed his 2023 breakup with Swift in an interview with The Sunday Times Style. “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he mentioned after being asked if he had listened to Swift’s album ‘The Tortured Poet’s Department.’
‘Kinds of Kindness’ is currently in theaters.
