A couple living in Bengaluru, India, claim they found a live cobra in the box containing their delivery
A couple in Bengaluru, India, were in for a shocking surprise when their Amazon delivery contained not just the Xbox controller they ordered, but a live snake as well!
On June 14, Tanvi and her husband, both engineers, placed an order for an Xbox controller on Amazon. Their package arrived just two days later. The couple promptly received it directly from the delivery person, ensuring it didn’t sit outside their home.
“The package was directly handed over to us by the delivery partner and not left outside. We live on Sarjapur road and captured the entire incident on camera, plus we have eyewitnesses,” Tanvi mentioned to AP.
When they opened the box, they discovered a venomous spectacled cobra inside, stuck to the adhesive tape. Tanvi quickly filmed the snake while it was wriggling inside the box.
“Ordered an Xbox controller from @amazonIN and received a free snake ๐ with it!” Tanvi wrote on social media, alongside a clip showing the snake inside the box.
In response to the incident, Amazon issued a statement: “The safety of our customers, employees, and associates is a top priority for us. We take all customer complaints seriously and are investigating this incident.”
After recording the incident, the couple carefully placed the box with the cobra in a bucket and waited for wildlife officials to arrive and handle the situation.
Tanvi reported the event to Amazon Help and received a prompt reply: “We’re sorry to know about the inconvenience you’ve had with the Amazon order. We’d like to have this checked. Please share the required details here, and our team will get back to you soon with an update.”
Amazon also refunded the money for the Xbox controller, but Tanvi still has reservations about the company’s responsibility. “This is clearly a safety breach caused solely by Amazon’s negligence and their poor transportation or warehousing hygiene and supervision,” she added. “Where is the accountability for such a serious lapse in safety?”
According to AP, the spectacled cobra has since been caught and released by wildlife officials.
The spectacled cobra is one of the four primary species causing snakebites in India, as noted by Britannica.
