Ariana Grande’s upcoming remix of ‘The Boy Is Mine’ featuring Brandy and Monica is generating a lot of excitement. The new version draws inspiration from the original Grammy-winning hit by Brandy and Monica from 1998.
Ariana Grande shared her excitement on Instagram, saying, ‘i ……… cannot believe this is real.’ She expressed immense gratitude to Brandy and Monica for joining her in this collaboration.
‘My deepest and sincerest thank you to Brandy and Monica, not only for joining me for this moment but for your generosity, your kindness, and for the countless ways in which you have inspired me. It is near impossible to say how much this means to me,’ she wrote.
Grande also highlighted the impact that Brandy and Monica have had on today’s artists, noting, ‘This is in celebration of you both and the impact that you have had on every vocalist, vocal producer, musician, artist that is creating today. i loooooove you both so so much. Thank you !!!!!’
The remix will be released on June 21 and the announcement follows Brandy and Monica’s appearance in Grande’s ‘The Boy Is Mine’ music video in May. They played news broadcasters introducing a speech from fictional Mayor Max Starling, portrayed by Penn Badgley, who oversees a city similar to New York.
Grande mentioned in a March interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe that she always wanted to reimagine ‘The Boy Is Mine.’ She admitted initially thinking it might be a bad idea but noted that her fans love a good anthem.
‘In a way, I was kind of like, ‘This is a very bad idea,’ but there is a large group of my fans that really do love a bad girl anthem, and this is an elevated version of that,’ she shared.
Grande’s version of ‘The Boy Is Mine’ was inspired by her leaked demo of ‘Fantasize’ and was included in her Eternal Sunshine album released in March. At that time, she expressed heartfelt thanks to her fans on Instagram for their constant support.
‘This album is most special to me for many reasons and just holds so much. Sharing it has re-opened a lot of little and big feelings alike and it has been an emotional week in many ways. But your overwhelmingly loving response to it all has made me feel such joyful, human connection and comfort,’ she wrote.
Grande concluded her post with gratitude: ‘Just wanted to say i love and appreciate you all more than one can say and thank you again. It is, as it always has been, my greatest honor to grow with you. 。˚❀ ·ꕤ let us promise to keep going ! .゚ꕤ’
