Taylor Swift gave her fans in Scotland a delightful surprise at her second Eras Tour show on Saturday, June 8. The superstar artist seamlessly blended “All of the Girls You Loved Before” from 2023 with “Crazier” from the 2009 Hannah Montana movie, a nostalgic gem that took many of her fans down memory lane.
“You get extra points if you know this next song at all because it is really, really old,” Swift, who is now 34, playfully told the crowd at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium. The mashup, performed acoustically on the piano, was a treat for long-time Swifties who remember her earlier work.
Swift continues to captivate her audiences with unexpected song mashups, which have become a thrilling element of her Eras Tour performances. The surprise song segment is particularly cherished, where each night she performs two songs or a mix of two songs acoustically on piano and guitar.
During the same night, Swift also mixed “The Bolter” from the upcoming 2024 film The Tortured Poets Department with “Getaway Car” from her 2017 album Reputation, to the delight of her fans.
The warmth and enthusiasm of Swift’s Scottish fans were evident from the moment she arrived. Earlier in the week, the local bagpipe group Reel Time Pipe Band performed her 2008 hit “Love Story” at Murrayfield Stadium, setting a celebratory tone for her visit. This heartwarming gesture was captured in a TikTok video shared by Forth 1 News.
Even Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, joined the excitement. In a video message posted on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed his delight at Swift’s visit and the temporary renaming of Loch Tay to “Loch Tay Tay” in her honor. “I really hope she has the chance to go and see Loch Tay — or should I say, Loch Tay Tay — because it is the most beautiful part of Scotland,” Swinney remarked. “She’ll get a really warm welcome here, and I know all of the Swifties will be so exhilarated by her presence in Scotland.”
This visit marks only the second time Swift has scheduled concerts in Scotland, the first being in June 2015 for a sold-out show at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro during her 1989 World Tour.
During her 2015 concert in Glasgow, Swift shared her affection for Scotland and its people, reminiscing how she had just publicly dated Scottish producer Calvin Harris. She also revealed her own Scottish roots, recounting an email from her father that asked her to tell the audience about their family’s heritage originating from Scotland.
Swift’s latest show in Edinburgh followed a two-night stint in Lyon, France, where she delivered her signature three-and-a-half-hour set, performing under pouring rain during much of the first show. As always, her resilience and dedication to her fans shone through.
