Police Officer’s Incredible Tackle to Catch Runaway Pig Goes Viral

Being a police officer comes with its own set of unpredictable challenges. One Utah officer recently found himself in an unusual situation that showcased his impressive athletic abilities, becoming an internet sensation in the process.

On April 2, the Grantsville City Police Department in Grantsville, Utah, took to Facebook to inform residents about some loose hogs wandering the area. They mentioned that efforts to capture the pigs were underway, possibly with costs falling to the owners.

Officer Cory Cooper was the one tasked with catching one of these runaway pigs. What happened next was impressive: caught on video, Officer Cooper sprinted across someone’s front yard and performed a football-worthy tackle to pin down the pig.

“Pig situation handled,” read a post from the Grantsville City Police Department. The clip soon became a viral hit across Facebook and TikTok, where viewers praised Officer Cooper’s defensive tackle skills.

Comments poured in, with one TikTok user noting, “As someone who rescues and has potbelly pigs for pets, I am so impressed. This capture was smooth. I know they are both tired.” Another comment on Facebook humorously remarked, “Touchdown.” People also joked that the pig’s squealing sounded like it was “pleading the fifth.”

This isn’t Officer Cooper’s first rodeo with animals. The department shared a photo of him holding a chicken, humorously noting his knack for dealing with animals.

Meanwhile, the origins of the hogs remain a mystery. According to KUTV, no one has come forward to claim the pigs, which are currently being cared for by a local animal rescue organization.

What an exciting and unexpected moment in the line of duty! It’s a day Officer Cooper — and the internet — won’t soon forget.
