Bus Driver Sees Loose Dog in Street, Makes Unplanned Stop to Save the Day

It’s always inspiring to see everyday people go out of their way to help animals in need. These kind souls provide animals with much-needed safety and protection, helping them find their way back home.

Recently, one bus driver went the extra mile to save a dog that was caught in the middle of the road on a rainy day.

According to the Milwaukee County Transit System, a driver named Stephany K. was on her route on a rainy Monday when she suddenly saw a dog in front of her bus.

The loose dog had been running in the street, barely avoiding being hit by multiple cars.

Recognizing the serious danger the dog was in, Stephany decided to help by making an unplanned stop along her route.

She opened the bus doors and called for the dog, guiding it inside. The dog, happy to be out of the rain and away from traffic, explored the bus and greeted passengers.

Meanwhile, Stephany contacted dispatchers for assistance. She allowed the dog to sit in the driver’s seat while they awaited help.

Soon enough, a route supervisor arrived to pick up the dog and brought it to the Milwaukee Police Department, in hopes of reuniting it with its family.

Stephany received praise from her company for her compassionate actions that likely saved the dog’s life.

“Thank you, Stephany, for your compassion and dedication to MCTS Excellence,” the Milwaukee County Transit System shared on Facebook.

It seems that Milwaukee’s bus operators are natural heroes: back in March, another driver made headlines after picking up a toddler who was walking around on a very cold day on the “most dangerous road in Milwaukee.”

This driver, named Keyon, took the boy into the bus and contacted the police, ensuring his safety.

Thank you, Stephany, for going above and beyond to help this beautiful dog! Please share this heartwarming story!
