‘From Here to the Great Unknown’ will be available this fall
The title and cover for the highly-anticipated memoir by Lisa Marie Presley, crafted with the assistance of her daughter Riley Keough, has been unveiled.
Here’s a first look at the cover for From Here to the Great Unknown, the forthcoming posthumous memoir by Presley, completed with Keough’s input. The memoir is set to be published on October 15 by Random House. Presley initially invited Keough to help her finalize the memoir back in 2022. When Presley passed away in January 2023 at the age of 54, Keough took on the heartfelt responsibility of finishing the book.
Thankfully, Presley had recorded her life stories on various tapes. Keough diligently listened to her mother recounting tales in her own voice. These anecdotes ranged from mischievous childhood antics like breaking golf carts at Graceland, to Presley’s long-term relationship with Keough’s father, musician Danny Keough, and her marriage to Michael Jackson.
The memoir also touches upon the more challenging aspects of Presley’s life: losing her father, Elvis Presley, in 1977, relocating to Los Angeles with her mother Priscilla Presley, and grappling with addiction and grief.
Keough’s dedication ensures that her mother’s desire to share her various life experiences, both joyous and somber, is honored. From Here to the Great Unknown illustrates the joint effort of a mother and daughter to heal each other, as described in the book’s summary.
“Few people had the opportunity to know who my mom really was, beyond being Elvis’s daughter,” Keough revealed in a statement. “I was fortunate to have that chance, and working on her autobiography has been an honor, albeit a bittersweet one.”
Keough, an Emmy-nominated actress who recently featured in the Hulu miniseries Under the Bridge, also shared her feelings on the writing process during the 2023 Emmy Awards.
“It’s extremely emotional and also very therapeutic,” she said. “It makes me feel very close to her. So it’s kind of, again, bittersweet and difficult, but also really special.”
And there it is, friends! From Here to the Great Unknown will be released on October 15 and is available for preorder. For those who prefer listening, the book will also be available in an audio format narrated by Keough.
