Owner left with $20,000 vet bill refuses to let dog die, raises money to save her life

What lengths would you go to save your pet’s life? For many pet owners, there’s no limit: they’ll find a way to pay off even the steepest vet bills if it means keeping their best friend alive and well.

Recently, one man faced a staggering $20,000 vet bill to save his beloved dog and was even ready to sell his house to make it happen. But, fortunately, a miracle stepped in.

Jaxon Feeley, from Wigan, England, is the proud owner of Rambo, a 2-year-old Weimaraner. Last month, he faced every dog owner’s worst nightmare as Rambo suddenly became gravely ill.

“She began vomiting throughout the night over 30 times, and by Saturday morning we were at the emergency vets,” Feeley shared. Rambo was in hypovolemic shock and also suffered from gastroenteritis.

The dog spent days in intensive care, and although her condition stabilized, the medical bills quickly escalated.

“Rambo’s insurance covered up to £6500, but her bill shot up to £11,500 after a week in care,” Feeley explained. “It’s uncertain how long Rambo will need to stay at the vet, with intensive care costing about £1000 per day. If she requires major surgery, the expenses will skyrocket, and I need to be prepared for that.”

Despite the exorbitant costs, Feeley was determined to provide his cherished pet with the necessary care, even if it meant parting with his home.

“I was never going to give up on this beautiful girl. She’s a little baby with a zest for life who wants to be happy with her big brother Rocky and our family,” Jaxon insisted.

Thankfully, he didn’t have to sell his house, thanks to the kindness of strangers. He set up a GoFundMe account, sharing Rambo’s plight, and many generous people stepped in to help.

The fundraiser exceeded Feeley’s expectations: it has raised over £25,000, more than doubling the initial goal of £10,000.

Feeley received even more great news: Rambo’s health continued to improve, and she was finally able to come home. In a February 4 update, he wrote:

“Over the last 3 days, Rambo pulled off a miracle. Hour by hour, her oxygen efficiency improved, she started eating and drinking, her lungs began to recover, and I saw her beautiful personality return. She fell into a routine where she knew to find me in a specific corner of the waiting room every 4 hours.”

Now, Feeley and Rambo are back home together, and thanks to the kindness of strangers, they can afford any future care Rambo might need.

This story proves that people will go to any extent for their pets, and it’s heartwarming to see how determined this owner was to keep his dog alive.

Thank you to everyone who donated to help Rambo! Please share this incredible tale!
