Kathy Griffin shared how she’s getting through her divorce from Randy Bick, one step at a time, leaning heavily on her current comedy tour for support. Griffin filed for divorce from her estranged husband in December 2023, after almost four years of marriage.
Griffin, known for her bold and unapologetic comedy style, is facing this difficult period with a focus on humor and work. She admits, “One day at a time. One show at a time. I thank God for this tour. I thank God it happened. I’m just so grateful to be on tour, so it takes my mind off it.”
In typical Griffin fashion, she reflects on her situation with a mix of resilience and humor, saying, “The great Joan Rivers used to say, ‘The more your life is in the s—–, the funnier you are,’ so I must be hilarious.”
Kathy Griffin and Randy Bick began their relationship in 2011 and got married in January 2020. However, court documents reveal that Griffin cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation, which was officially dated December 22, 2023.
She has also requested the court to end its ability to award spousal support and is seeking enforcement of their premarital agreement dated December 23, 2019.
The news of their divorce came just days before their fourth wedding anniversary. Griffin shared her initial reaction on Instagram, writing, “Well…s—t. This sucks.”
In March, Griffin hired a private investigator to serve Bick with divorce papers after attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. Court documents noted Bick had not been in contact with Griffin nor disclosed his whereabouts since leaving their shared home at her request.
Despite the challenges, Griffin continues to push forward. Court filings reveal Bick has responded by requesting spousal support and attorney’s fees per their prenuptial agreement. Griffin is prepared to navigate these proceedings while continuing her tour.
Reflecting on their unconventional marriage, Griffin once said, “Randy and I are doing sort of toy rings for the ceremony because neither one of us like wearing rings ever. So we will never wear rings. Deal with it.”
Griffin was previously married to Matt Moline from 2001 to 2006.
Griffin’s journey through this turbulent time is a testament to her strength and dedication to her craft. Her current tour is not just a career milestone but also a critical anchor, helping her stay grounded and positive through the storm.
Kathy Griffin remains a powerful example of facing life’s challenges with grace, humor, and relentless perseverance.
