Tina Knowles Says Daughter Solange Was ‘Conceived on the Nile in Egypt’

Get to know Tina Knowles, who recently revealed a fascinating story about her younger daughter Solange.

“Solange was conceived on the Nile in Egypt,” shared the proud mom while featuring on Vogue’s The Run-Through podcast.

She further explained the origin of Solange’s unique name showcasing her love for creativity and meaningful connections.

“I thought I was having a boy and I wanted to name him Niles. But little did I know, here came this girl,” she fondly recalled. She found the name “Solange” in a French baby name book she had received as a gift.

Continuing the tale, Knowles reminisced about her trip to Paris, where she bought a baby name book for a friend. A year later, she pulled out that book again for her own use.

In addition to being a wonderful mother, Tina Knowles is also a doting grandmother. “It’s the best. With grandkids you don’t have the pressure of responsibility. You get to just indulge them with noisy toys that drive their parents crazy,” she joked warmly. “They are the best. My grandkids are all super creative, and I just love them to death.”

When asked by Hoda Kotb on what her grandkids call her, she proudly responded, “They call me Grandma.”

After raising two notable music superstars, Knowles shared that it’s early to tell whether her grandkids would follow in their talented moms’ footsteps. “We’re watching, but you know, they still have a lot of time. They’re all super great artists, like visual artists, and very smart,” she remarked. “Whatever they want to do, we support that.”
