Picture day can be a special time for kids to show off their unique styles. For three-year-old Kaylieann Steinbach, who has profound hearing loss, it was a day she eagerly awaited. However, when the clothes her parents picked didn’t quite match her vision, she decided to take charge and show off her true self.
Kaylieann loves superheroes, especially Superman and Supergirl. Due to her hearing condition, she sweetly calls them “Pooterman” and “Pootergirl.” So, it was no surprise when she chose to wear her favorite “Pootergirl” costume for picture day.
Supported by her understanding parents, Austin and Cristina Steinbach, Kaylieann confidently posed for the camera in her superhero outfit, even bringing along a superhero doll for the photoshoot. Her happiness was evident in every shot. Kaylieann’s love for superhero costumes has made her quite the trendsetter at school. Her dad, Austin, shared on Reddit that her teachers and classmates always look forward to seeing her latest superhero outfit. Inspired by his daughter’s boldness, Austin posted Kaylieann’s picture on Reddit to share a bit of joy and celebrate her fearless spirit. He was astounded by the overwhelming support the post received, especially from the deaf community.
“The reaction and support from the deaf community has been incredible,” Austin said in an interview. “I never thought her picture would touch so many hearts. The messages of kindness and encouragement have been wonderfully overwhelming.” Kaylieann’s story is a beautiful testament to her courage and determination. She chose to be herself, despite the challenges she faces with her hearing. To many, she is a true superhero. Kaylieann, you are an incredible and inspiring young girl. You truly are a superhero in every way! If Kaylieann’s story touched your heart as it did mine, please share this article and spread the joy she brings!
