Taking Up the Challenge
Imagine having 2.5 kg of yarn and 250 hours at your disposal—what would you create? While some might go for a blanket or a cozy sweater, Kika chose to knit her wedding dress. The Beginning
Kika’s idea stemmed from her love for challenges and a pinch of over-ambition. Inspired by designs from Dior, Chanel, and Ulla Johnson, she sketched and planned her dress meticulously before diving into the knitting. Despite the hectic schedule, Kika found that the project kept her grounded.
The Knitting Journey
Knitting a dress isn’t easy, especially amidst moving houses and wedding planning. Even though she had never knitted a dress before, Kika took it as an opportunity to bring her creative vision to life. About two weeks in, Kika faced a major setback. The bodice she had knitted was far too big, so she had to unravel it all and start over. She also had issues with the sleeves slipping, which took extra time to fix. However, her determination remained unshaken, spurred on by the supportive messages from her followers and her own resolve to see her vision through.
Finishing Touches
Just four days before the wedding, Kika completed her dress. Though she was exhausted, her efforts paid off. She married Jukka Heino on Saturday, September 10, at their new home, which was beautifully in sync with their cottage-themed wedding.
Everyone at the wedding admired the dress and praised Kika for her dedication and craftsmanship. Her husband, initially skeptical, was immensely proud of her achievement.

Kika and her husband met during the pandemic in the spring of 2020. Their love story blossomed in Helsinki, and their shared enthusiasm and positive outlook on life brought them closer.
Reflecting on her wedding day, Kika recalled how guests would come up to her, fascinated by the dress, which she loved talking about. The entire process took around 45 days, 250 hours, and 1.5 kg of pure silk yarn, costing about 300 euros.
