Demi Moore has shared that she hasn’t received any communication from Channing Tatum regarding the Ghost remake he is working on — but that doesn’t mean she’s not intrigued.

Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, and the late Patrick Swayze starred in the original acclaimed movie nearly 35 years ago.

Recently, Moore, now 61, spoke to Entertainment Weekly, expressing that even though she hasn’t heard from Tatum, she’s eager to see his vision for the 1990 film.

“He’s super talented,” she remarked while promoting her new horror movie, The Substance, which created a buzz at the Cannes Film Festival. “I’d be curious to see what he decides to do.”

A representative for Tatum didn’t immediately provide a comment to PEOPLE.

Moore expressed to EW that Tatum’s remake might unearth and retell new versions of the story.

“Look, every story has already been told in some way. What’s wonderful is the different interpretations:” she noted.

She continued, “There are some films that perhaps shouldn’t be remade, but occasionally, you get wonderful surprises.”

The original Ghost was a massive success, earning over $500 million globally and receiving critical praise. It garnered five Academy Award nominations and won for Best Supporting Actress and Best Screenplay — Written Directly for the Screen.

In February 2023, Tatum disclosed in a Vanity Fair interview that his production company, Free Association, had acquired the rights to the film.

“We’re going to do something different,” mentioned the Magic Mike’s Last Dance star about his production company’s approach to the Ghost remake.

In the original movie directed by Jerry Zucker, Patrick Swayze’s character, Sam Wheat, is murdered by Willie Lopez (Rick Aviles). Sam’s ghost tries to save his girlfriend Molly Jensen, played by Moore. The film’s popularity also boosted the Righteous Brothers’ song “Unchained Melody.”

“I think it needs to change a bit,” Tatum reflected on the remake’s direction.
