“He is awesome and we are all so happy he is here,” the couple wrote jointly on Instagram
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are thrilled to share the wonderful news of their growing family!
The loving couple, who tied the knot in January 2015, have welcomed their second child, a beautiful baby boy named Cardinal. Diaz, who is 51, and Madden, 45, joyfully announced Cardinal’s birth on Instagram this Friday.
“We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our son, Cardinal Madden❤️🙏 He is awesome, and we are all so happy he is here! For the kids’ safety and privacy, we won’t be posting any pictures- but he’s really cute ☺️ We are feeling so blessed and grateful 🍀 Sending much love from our family to yours 🙏❤️ Best wishes and Good Afternoon!! 🤘⚡️,” their heartfelt caption read.
Along with their message, the announcement included an adorable drawing stating, “A little bird whispered to me.” The lovely couple is also parents to their daughter Raddix, who was born on December 30, 2019.
Family members poured in with their love and congratulations, including Benji’s brother Joel Madden, who left heartfelt emojis “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” and Pete Wentz who shared his excitement with “✨✨✨.”
Back when their daughter Raddix was just 2 years old, Cameron Diaz revealed on GOOP’s podcast how motherhood transformed her entire perspective on aging.
“It’s totally opened up. I’m excited. I’ve got 50 or 60 years to go — I want to live to be 110, since I’ve got a young child. I think you have this amazing moment in your 40s where you appreciate who your parents are, and I want to have that moment with her — to be there with her in her 40s,” Diaz shared warmly.
Last October, Cameron Diaz gushed about Benji Madden while speaking with Jimmy Fallon on his late-night talk show, calling him the “best dad.”
“He’s like, Benj at home, being the best dad ever and running all of his businesses, and then he just gets up there and he’s like, ‘Yeah, all right, pyro! Pfft,’” Diaz laughed as she described seeing Madden perform on stage.
Diaz also fondly recounted on her October 2023 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, how Madden enjoys serenading their daughter.
“Yeah, he makes up — he has, honestly, I’m like, ‘Why don’t we just… you need to do a kids’ album,’ because he has the best songs,” Diaz said with a smile. “They play in my head all the time because he sings them to her and she knows the words. And it’s the sweetest thing ever. It really is. It’s so… it kills me.”
