In a joint-social media post, Metz and Collins said they will be ‘in each other’s lives forever’
Chrissy Metz and Bradley Collins are choosing different paths.
The beloved This Is Us star and her longtime boyfriend announced their decision to part ways on social media this past Friday.
“After three and a half years together, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship amicably,” she revealed in a touching Instagram post shared with Collins.
“We still care deeply for each other and concluded this is the best path forward. Our bond remains, with books to write, songs to create, and an enduring friendship keeping us connected,” shared the pair.
Earlier this year, the couple introduced their first collaborative effort, a children’s book titled When I Talk to God, I Talk About You, graced with illustrations by Lisa Fields. Released in February, the book was born from their shared experiences and mutual interests.
Discussing the inspiration behind it, Collins explained, “As we got to know each other, we realized we had much in common. Our conversations often uncovered deep, shared experiences, reminding us that pain and trauma know no age boundaries.”
Metz added, “Our book introduces kids to the concept of prayer, reassuring them they can pray for anything on their hearts and minds.”
She emphasized, “We hope the book shows that prayers aren’t just for tough times. They’re also about celebrating good moments and expressing gratitude, highlighting the importance of thankfulness as much as prayer.”
The duo’s journey began on the dating app Bumble. Reflecting on their meeting, Metz shared on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM Radio Andy show in January 2021, she kept her profile simple to find genuine connections.
Among potential dates, Collins stood out. Metz recalled, “Seeing a guy with a This Is Us coffee cup was sweet but felt a bit surreal. Yet, our conversation flowed in a way it hadn’t with others.”
Interestingly, as they got to know each other, they found they shared many friendships.
“I never expected to find someone like him on Bumble, but I feel no shame in how we connected,” she admitted laughingly.
One of the sweet moments in their relationship was shared by Collins on Instagram for Metz’s birthday in September 2020. He creatively wrote a heartfelt message using a playful hashtag with her last name, expressing his deep appreciation for her.
“From our first date in May, you had me #Metzmerized with love, laughter, and kindness,” he captioned a selfie of them smiling.
“You are the best thing that happened not just in quarantine but in my life. I love you. You the Best!” he added.
