Nia Long’s son is a college graduate!
The actress, 53, shared a heartfelt photo on Instagram on Monday, May 20, in celebration of her son Massai Zhivago’s graduation from New York University. The endearing snapshot features the proud mother alongside her smiling son, 23, who is adorned in a lei, cap, and gown.
“Oh my baby @massaidorsey I’m so proud of you! Let’s get it! Congratulations! #classof2024 #nyugraduation #proudmama ♥️🎉,” Long captioned the photo.
The star shares her older son with ex-fiancé Massai Z. Dorsey. She is also mom to her younger son, 12-year-old Kez Sunday, whom she shares with ex-partner Ime Udoka.
Long and Udoka ended their 13-year relationship in December 2022. Roughly eight months later, Long filed for legal and physical custody of her son Kez, citing a lack of support from her ex-fiancé.
According to documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, the actress, known for her role in “You People,” requested that Udoka have “reasonable visitation” in alignment with their child’s best interests. These documents were filed on August 14 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Back in January, Long and Udoka reached a settlement concerning Kez’s custody following their split. Court documents indicate that Udoka will pay $32,000 monthly in child support to Long.
The former couple will maintain joint custody of Kez, while Long will have sole physical custody. Udoka is granted reasonable visitation rights, which take into account his travel commitments with his team, the Houston Rockets, throughout the NBA season. The custody arrangement ensures that Udoka can still visit Kez without disrupting his schedule.
