Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva made the 2024 Cannes Film Festival the venue for a stylish date night!
The married couple was all smiles as they attended the Friday, May 17, premiere of Gere’s new film, Oh, Canada, where he stars opposite Uma Thurman, Jacob Elordi, Victoria Hill, and Michael Imperioli.
According to an official synopsis, the film focuses on the story of a famed Canadian documentary filmmaker who “gives a final interview to one of his former students to tell the whole truth about his life.” It was directed by Paul Schrader, who previously worked with Gere on American Gigolo.
Gere, 74, was dressed to impress in a classic black tux, white dress shirt, and black bow tie. Silva, 41, radiated beauty in a strapless black A-line gown with floral embroidery.
The elegant look was paired with long sparkling dangle earrings, a necklace, and multiple rings.
It was previously confirmed that Silva and Gere tied the knot in a secret ceremony in April 2018. At the time, a source said: “They’re so comfortable with each other, have fun together, and are looking forward to their future together.”
The couple share two children: Alexander, 5, and a younger son born in April 2020, whose name has not yet been revealed. Gere is also a father to son Homer, 24, with ex-wife Carey Lowell.
While their red carpet appearances together have been rare, Silva attended a special screening of his film Maybe I Do in January 2023. That same month, Gere spoke to Extra about the care and effort that goes into a marriage.
“There’s always two things that going on at the same time in any relationship. It’s that you, as an individual, are still trying to figure out who you are always. How do you share that with another person, and does it fit?” he said.
“The person that you are today was not the same person you were 50 years ago when the relationship started,” continued Gere. “They’re not the same person. You’re not the same people together. So it’s a constant checking in to see, ‘Does this work?’”
