Conjoined twins, Abby Hensel and Brittany Hensel, have a heartwarming story to share – Abby tied the knot with her husband Josh Bowling in a private ceremony in November 2021. Abby is the conjoined twin on the left side, connected to Brittany. Born in 1990, their parents, Mike and Patty Hensel, made the courageous decision to forgo separation surgery because they were told that it was unlikely both sisters would survive.
Abby and Brittany are dicephalous conjoined twins, an incredibly rare form of partial twinning where they have two heads side by side on one torso. They share a bloodstream and all organs below the waist. Abby controls the right arm and leg, while Brittany controls the left.
How Did Abby Hensel Become a Reality TV Star?
Abby and Brittany first appeared on TV in 1996 when they were only six years old. They were featured in the documentary “Joined for Life,” which followed their lives over the course of one year. In 2007, they appeared on the TV series “Extraordinary People.”
Their journey continued in 2008 with the documentary “Joined for Life: Abby and Brittany Turn 16.” Then in 2012, they had their own reality series on TLC called “Abby & Brittany.” The show captured their lives as they prepared to graduate from Minnesota’s Bethel College and embarked on a travel adventure in Europe.
